Part one: Beauty and the sublime

I have always loved taking pictures of the 'landscape'. As much as I took pictures when I was younger, I always had a camera during my school years, it was only during a family trip to Pendine in 2009 that I started taking photography seriously.

Never having any further education after my A Levels, I decided after a few years that I wanted to study at HE level and photography would be a great subject to undertake as it had been such a personal hobby for a few years.

I enrolled on the BA Photography pathway and 'Landscape' was the one course of all of the course that I was particularly interested in undertaking. Probably because my preconception of the genre was breathtaking scenery, time spent outdoors, especially as we are now ending the summer season and heading into the glorious golden oranges, reds and browns of Autumn as I start this course. I can say that I like my preconceived idea of the landscape genre and the course as a whole (BA Hons) is a challenge for me but as I said int he previous blog post, I am now worried about my choice.

Its' always good to develop your critical abilities but I am thinking, after reading this course material, that my initial thoughts on the course are nothing like what I am about to start.
