I am somewhat of a pro at making photobooks. Maybe not even printing them all but Ive made a fair few in the last few years, purely for gifts etc. I have done this through a high street printer who offers a similar system of downloading a software to create the book and playing around with themes, colours and layouts. I also use the same printer to create photo calendars for xmas gifts.
I find the freedom of using such software, great. You aren't constricted in many ways and can choose exactly what you want to create the look that you want. I can at times find the process monotonous and it is very time consuming if you are creating a specific look or trying to fit in all the photos that you want to, while fiddling around with the layouts and pages to get all the images in.
The main purpose for this photo book, if I were to use this presentation for Assignment 5, is to show off the images. I want to keep to one image per page as well as keeping a white background, as in the white cube effect. No designs or textures or colours to distract away from the images. I'd really like to try to incorporate quotes from Gilpin's 'Observations on the River Wye...' as that is the inspiration for this series of images.
I have 'mocked up' the book and the process was pretty much as I suspected. Easy to use and full control over layout and content. It looked exactly as I had envisioned as well so i'm glad I took the time to actually do the exercise. I cant see how to link it to this blog though, unfortunately. But at least I have a better understanding of it now and know I can do it should I want to create a book in the future.
I have taken some screen shots though so you can see the effect that I was going for;
