Exercise 4.4: 'Of Mother Nature and Marlboro Men'

I really cant say it enough and I do feel slightly inadequate trying to tackle all these big words.

Bright spends time exploring the term landscape and then discussing how landscape photography became what it is. She explores the idea that natural landscapes became more mainstream by commercial photography and movies which led to nature being exploited and made into a business.

I think that Bright's main point is that "landscape" is exactly what you make of it. It doesn't matter who you are, how you perceive and portray that landscape will make the image what it is.

Bright discusses that male and female photographers will obviously have different styles but the males appear to get more recognition for their work and so Bright touches on the differences between the work of the men versus that of the females. It still boils down to the fact though, that if the photographer sees beauty, then the images will reflect this.

I'm not sure how much I agree with that last point. Everyone is individual and therefore will have different opinions so what may be beauty to the photographer may not be beautiful to someone viewing that image. But I feel that maybe technique and style could affect the final image and how that image is seen.
